Now, I've been listening to a lot of Korean pop music and documentaries (from Twice, BTS, Jay Park, GDragon, Big Bang, etc. courtesy of Youtube Originals) lately since this MCO started. Those who know me knows that I've always been in and out of Kpop over the years since highschool, since I have a wide variety of music that I like and it really depends on the mood/season I'm in. I want to write about how a lot of people who don't listen to Kpop have an inaccurate perception of the music, the culture and what it represents. I have really come to appreciate it, not just the amount of work they put in but also the story they try to tell behind their music, their art. Of course, not all groups have the liberty to set their own musical direction but those who have been in the scene for many years have gained the experience and trust to be able to produce music that are close to their hearts.
