One Week Worth of Events

Last week have been one of the most hectic week yet. From Penang, to Sungai Lembing, to Alex Goot and Against the Current's round table discussion, and concert. For once, I can really say that I didn't waste my time. This break have been quite productive, I would say. :)

To elaborate further, I went to Georgetown, Penang with my friends, Charmaine and Xueh Wei, on Sunday. We were there for three days. I have been to Georgetown for a lot of times now. More frequently was twice last year and once this year. Even though I'm not born or raised in Penang, I kind of know my way around it now. So it's cool how I can bring my friends around Georgetown like a tour guide. Also, I now know I can read maps like a pro. Chehhhhh... :P

Incidentally, they were having GTF (Georgetown Festival) while we were there so it was cool. Walking around the town, we got to see projects which were part of GTF. We saw how pinhole cameras work, photography projects, and even got to read limited edition photography books which were all compiled at Shop Howard. We went to tourist spots such as Penang Hill and Penang State Museum.

Staying at a guesthouse is usually very fun because you get to talk to different people from different countries. In my case, there were people from China, Taiwan, Japan and of course, Malaysia! The only downside of this trip was the super-itchy-bed-bug-bites I got. The itch went on for quite a few days. They were terrible. I never want to experience it again. Also, I don't know how it happened, but Wei lost her favourite shorts and broke her scandals while Char scrapped her knee pretty bad. Needless to say, bad things happened to all three of us. Just bad luck, I guess. But we had one hella of time. Thanks for making it awesome, guys! Not regretting the RM260 I spent for this trip. However, I'm gonna take a break from Penang for a while. Kinda got bored after going there for so many times.

First time taking Malindo.

Whazzup!

Straight after flying back from Penang, I had to wake up early the next morning for my trip to Sg. Lembing which is organized by iM4U (1Malaysia for Youth) in conjunction with this year's 57th year of independence. I was there for two days. Made a few friends, mainly girls. The closer ones were my roomies, Karisma, Natasha and Alicia. Before we started our photography session with a representative from Canon, we first went to clean up the area around Lembing river. I don't understand how people can be so irresponsible of their rubbish. They even leave diapers (with faeces in it) around. It was pretty disgusting. >_<

My newly made friends!

On the second day, we finally got to travel to Rainbow Waterfall which is what Sg. Lembing is famous for. It was an hour and a half ride to the base of the waterfall. From there on, we hiked and crossed rivers for around 30-40 minutes. It was exhausting, more so for me who have low stamina. The view was really beautiful. It was also super cooling up there. What was sad was that we didn't get to see any rainbows. Would love to go back there again.

On a side note, one of my picture got chosen for the top 10 which will be sent to Tourism Malaysia. From there, the top 3 shares on Facebook will earn him/herself a Canon compact camera. I'm hoping I can win one. Only 5 more days to go! Whooo!

Proud of my picture. ;)

Last but not least, my experience to cover Alex Goot and ATC's concert. It was a great opportunity. I thank BRATs and Denielle for giving me the chance me to broaden my horizons to be the photographer for this assignment. Also, not forgetting my photography sifu/tai kor, Marcus, for giving me great advice. Having seen Alex, Chrissy, Dan and Will up close during the round table discussion on Friday, I wasn't even a bit starstruck. I guess it was because I don't see myself as a fan of theirs. Who knows?

Skyward! :D

There was only one word to describe the concert on Sunday. Awesome. It was the first time I've been to an actual concert. What made it more spectacular was that we were allowed to sit at the media section which was close to the stage. Best part, it was free. Having the chance to watch local bands like Skyward and An Honest Mistake perform was really cool as well. Lizzie, a rather newcomer to the music industry, also performed as one of the opening acts. One of the more prominent song which I remembered being sung by Alex was Lightning. I have been listening to it since I came back. In addition to that, I managed to take pictures with Melissa Th'ng, Mark O'dea and Ming Yue after the concert. T'was a great night.

That's it, I guess. Just a week more till semester 3 starts. Just two more weeks till HMC RUSH happens. Just three and a half more months till I finish my foundation. Time passes by really fast, doesn't it? I hope I'll still keep in touch with my college friends (and they with me) after my life in HELP. I hope they won't forget me. I really hope our friendships isn't just a one time thing.

Goodbye for now. :)
